Teadlased avastasid koroonaviiruse nõrga külje
KoroonaviirusValk, mis näib olevat vajalik SARS-CoV-2 paljunemiseks ja teistele rakkudele levimiseks, on koroonaviiruse potentsiaalne nõrkus, mille võiksid uued ravimeetodid sihikule võtta.
Arvatakse, et molekul, mida nimetatakse transmembraanseks valguks 41 B (TMEM41B), aitab kujundada rasvase välismembraani, mis kaitseb viiruse geneetilist materjali, samal ajal kui see paljuneb nakatunud raku sees ja enne kui saab nakatada teisi rakke.

8. detsembril ajakirjas Cell avaldatud uuringud näitasid, et TMEM41B oli SARS-CoV-2 paljunemiseks hädavajalik. Eksperimentide seerias võrdlesid teadlased uue koroonaviiruse toimimist nakatunud rakkudes kollapalavikku, Lääne-Niiluse ja Zika haigust põhjustavate viirustega. Samuti võrreldi seda veel kolme hooajalise koroonaviirusega, mis teadaolevalt põhjustavad nohu.
«Kogunesid tõendid transmembraansest valgust 41 B kui kriitilisest tegurist flaviviirustega nakatumisel ja tähelepanuväärselt ka koroonaviiruste nagu SARS-CoV-2 puhul,» ütleb uuringu kaasautor dr John T. Poirier.
«Kuigi transmembraanse valgu 41 B pärssimine on praegu koroonaviirusnakkuse peatamiseks tulevaste ravimeetodite peamine kandidaat, tuvastasid meie tulemused üle saja muu valgu, mida võiks samuti uurida potentsiaalsete ravimite sihtmärkidena,» ütleb Poirier.
