Eesti vähiregistri andmetel diagnoositi 2018. aastal 8783 vähi esmasjuhtu, neist meestel 4462 ja naistel 4321. Kõige sagedamini esines naha mittemelanoomi, eesnäärmevähki, käär- ja pärasoolevähki ning kopsuvähki.

Meestel oli kõige sagedam eesnäärme- ja kopsuvähk ning naha mittemelanoom, naistel rinnavähk, naha mittemelanoom ning käär- ja pärasoolevähk.

Kümne sagedama hulka kuulusid nii meestel kui naistel ka mao- ja neeruvähk; meestel käär- ja pärasoole-, kusepõie-, kõhunäärmevähk, mitte-Hodgkini lümfoom ning maksa ja maksasiseste sapiteede vähk ning naistel kopsu-, emakakeha-, kõhunäärmevähk, nahamelanoom ja emakakaelavähk.

65 protsendil esmasjuhtudest diagnoositi vähk 65-aastastel ja vanematel. Lastel vanuses 0–14 aastat diagnoositi 2018. aastal 38 pahaloomulist kasvajat.
